Resideo Pro Portal
Conceptualizing a SaaS platform for Resideo’s professional installer partners
Project Overview
Resideo endeavored to create a holistic SaaS platform to function as a one-stop software solution to offer superior support for its business clients.
My Role
I led the UX/UI design for the Resideo Pro Portal web application’s authenticated user experience by delivering wireframes, workflows, and prototypes.
The Team
I was part of a diverse design team that included a design director, two other UX/UI designers, a visual designer, and two researchers. We worked closely with product managers and line-of-business owners to gather and define requirements.
The Challenge
Design an intuitive SaaS platform to help Resideo’s partners grow their businesses through regular engagement with the platform. Looking through Resideo’s history of disjointed single-point solutions and tools, as well as generative research, would enable us to successfully identify key needs and deliver streamlined solutions.

Agile Design Sprints
Research and User Story Generation
Rapid Design Iteration and Prototyping
Agile Design Sprints
Designing the Resideo Pro Portal was a massive undertaking. I worked alongside a team of UX/UI designers and researchers to divide and conquer as we worked through project sprints. Given the scope and requirements, we held a daily stand-up and ad-hoc collaborative working sessions to ensure our designs were creating a cohesive experience.
Research and User Story Generation
I reviewed generative research with our design researchers and internal business domain experts and assessed takeaways from previous solutions and tools to identify key business needs and help write user stories for the Pro Portal.
Rapid Design Iteration and Prototyping
I crafted the authenticated user experience within the Pro Portal, focusing on the primary user dashboard (home screen), customer management, alerts and notifications, and business lead tracking.
After working through several rounds of rapid design iteration, I created low-fi wireframes and workflows using Adobe Xd and Omnigraffle. Additionally, I collaborated with our research team on the evolution of the portal’s information architecture.
During our final sprints, my team built a highly-interactive mid-fi prototype using Sketch and Invision, which was presented to Resideo’s board of directors for approval on our vision of the company’s new SaaS platform.
Outcomes
Resideo’s board of directors approved our vision for the platform.
Our prototype and other documentation was handed off to the software development team to begin building the platform.
Our developers were able to experience the portal interactively via the prototype, which reduced their on-boarding time for the project.
Summary
This project was both extremely challenging and rewarding. I collaborated with a diverse group of designers and business stakeholders to successfully shape the future of how Resideo supports its pro partners with new services, tools, and data insights.
